Shakib played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mustafiz for Rajasthan Royals in IPL. The popular franchise cricket event was postponed last Tuesday due to the growing number of covid attacks in the bio-safety zone of the tournament.
After the tournament was postponed, the organizers said they would make all possible arrangements for the return of foreign cricketers and support staff. Regarding the return of Shakib and Mustafiz, BCB chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said, "Since India's communication with Bangladesh is currently closed, the two will have to return under special arrangements."
In the end, their franchise arranged a chartered flight for two Bangladeshi cricketers.
Shakib and Mustafiz were able to return on time, which also removed a big problem for the Bangladesh team. Both will have time to finish quarantine and prepare for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh's three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka starts on May 23.

Cricket Australia's acting chief executive Nick Hawkley told reporters in Sydney on Wednesday that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was working to send Australian cricketers and others to the Maldives or Sri Lanka. They will stay there until it is possible to return to the country.
Among them, Chennai Super Kings' Australian batting coach Michael Hussey Kovid-19 tested positive on Tuesday. For now, he will be in isolation for 10 days in a hotel room in Delhi.
