The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved the vaccine of Sinoform, a Chinese state-owned company, on an emergency basis.

It is the first vaccine invented by a country outside the West to be approved by the World Health Organization.

But the World Health Organization said on Friday that it had approved it after verifying the "safety, efficacy and quality" of the informed vaccine. The vaccine was developed by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says that with the addition of information to the list of other approved vaccines, "countries that want to get vaccinated against Covid-19 to protect health workers and at-risk populations have the potential to accelerate the vaccine program."

The agency recommends two doses of the vaccine for people 18 and older.

Another Chinese-made covid vaccine, Sinovac, is expected to be approved in the next few days.

However, the Russian-made 'Sputnik V' vaccine is still under evaluation.

Why is World Health Organization support important?

The clearance from the world's top health agency serves as a green signal for vaccine safety and efficacy for national regulators.

Tedros Adhanam Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization said the move would give "confidence in the countries' own regulators to expedite their approval process at the national level."

Another positive aspect of this is that this vaccine can now be included in the global Kovacs program. The project was launched last year to ensure that rich and poor countries are not discriminated against in accessing vaccines.

The decision to approve the Chinese vaccine on an emergency basis is expected to further consolidate the Kovacs project. The project was struggling to deliver vaccines.

The inform vaccine was widely used before it was approved by the World Health Organization. It is estimated that 65 million doses of informed vaccine have already been given to humans.

The World Health Organization will now decide on another Chinese vaccine, Synovac. Experts from the agency said on Friday they were waiting for some additional information before giving their views on the vaccine.

A major feature of the Chinese vaccine is that it can be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of 2-6 cal  C - similar to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
